While nothing compares to the Independence Day celebrations of our hometown, Idaho Falls, our little towl here did an okay job. Coppell is a town of about 60,000, I think, but we are one of the numerous suburbs of the DFW metroplex, made up of many millions of people. We did not want to battle crowds to go downtown, so we stuck within waling distance of our home.
There was a nice little festival in the park we take our walks in. There were some bounce houses and blow-up slides that we waited in long lines to go on. Zach and Zoey loved it, though!
We decided to walk about halfway home to watch the fireworks so that the kids could get to bed sooner, and I'm very glad we did. As you can hear from the following videos, Zach loved the fireworks at first, but was soon begging to go home because they were too loud and too close for him! Everyone around us was laughing!

The city provided these 3D glasses that made the fireworks all rainbow-colored and really neat!
Zoey enjoyed the whole show, and didn't display any fear at all!
The next morning we attended the parade at a friend's house that lives on the parade route. We arrived a little late and missed most of it. I didn't know there were only 30 entries!!
Zoey especially loved the floats with music!
And Zach got right into the holiday spirit by wearing this witch hat! He has this thing for witch hats. The kid cracks me up! We had a nice relaxing holiday as a family. I am hoping to have the opportunity to spend the Fourth of July in Idaho Falls again before too long. Once you've seen those fireworks over the falls, nothing else quite measures up!
