Zach and I are loving Maui and anxiously awaiting Corey's arrival tomorrow. My sister, Natalie, and her husband, Ryan, are wonderful hosts and tour guides. We've been to several beaches and enjoyed every minute of our trip so far! It's been raining since 4 am, so instead of our usual beach walking, I'm enjoying the day at Nat's.

Zach and I arrived in Maui last night and want Corey to know we miss him and are anxiously awaiting his arrival next week. We'll post more about this trip as we go!

Ketchin' Up

Big Smiles!

In his "giraffe costume," as Corey calls it.

Nothing really interesting to report this week. I got sucked in to the Twilight Series and am starting the 4th book tonight. Zach is progressing by leaps and bounds lately. We were a little worried about him because he wasn't making much eye contact or smiling very often as of last week. By the time he had his 2 month check up this week, he was doing very well in those respects. He is now gazing into our eyes and has beautiful smiling spells! The doctor also prescribed a lotion for his dermatitis (aka baby acne/cradle cap) that worked like a charm. After one application, his skin was clearer then Jessica Simpson's on the ProActiv commercials. It breaks my heart that I didn't know there was such a simple cure sooner! He's sleeping pretty well, eating well, and we are having a ball together!

Our Deer Friends

As I looked out the back window toward the orchard today to see if our friends, the deer, were grazing in the orchard, I was surprised to encounter this buck. He had jumped our fence and was digging through the 14 inches or so of snow looking for food. I think he found my pile of weeds that never got discarded at the end of the summer, which he was quite satisfied with.

I think he is the same scavenging buck that startled my mom this summer when she caught him with his front legs up in our apricot tree, looking for breakfast!

We have seen the deer a bit this winter, but not as much as in years past. My favorite deer were two tiny fawns we had the summer before last. They were adorable! I would watch them curiously peek at me through the orchard fence as they wobbled on their spindly new legs while I would weed my flowerbeds.

We didn't have tiny fawns this summer, so I hope we get some again next summer. Our location on the edge of this orchard that is replete with wildlife, topped with a with a gorgeous sunset view is our favorite feature of our home. I will be heartbroken if/when we move on.
